3 DAYS - TIER ONE ITINERARY FOR VICTORIA FALLS TOUR

TIER 1 SAFARI SUMMARY FOR VICTORIA FALLS TOUR

  • Arrival and departure meet, greet and transfer service from/to Livingstone International Airport - Zambia. If arriving at Lusaka International Airport or even the airport in Cape Town, Johannesburg or anywhere in Africa, we can arrange for related arrival and flight services to Victoria Falls or surrounding areas.
  • Various noted activities are included with your overnight stay as indicated.
  • Ability to customize and add more days to the existing program e.g Kruger, Chobe, Okavango Delta & Cape Town
  • This program can further be combined with other AfricanMecca safaris/itineraries/locations in Zambia or to include other parks and destinations within Africa and Indian Ocean Islands.
Described by the Kololo tribe living in the area in the 1800's as 'Mosi-oa-Tunya' - 'the Smoke that Thunders' and in more modern terms as 'the greatest known curtain of falling water', Victoria Falls are a spectacular sight of awe-inspiring beauty and grandeur on the Zambezi River, bordering Zambia and Zimbabwe and one of the wonders of the world. Columns of spray can be seen from miles away as 546 million cubic meters of water per minute plummet over the edge (at the height of the flood season) over a width of nearly two kilometers into a deep gorge over 100 meters below. The wide basalt cliff, over which the falls thunder, transforms the Zambezi from a wide placid river to a ferocious torrent cutting through a series of dramatic gorges. Visiting Victoria Falls at various times of the year will provide completely different experiences of the Livingstone and falls area. Peak flood season is around March and April and the full power of the falls can be experienced in all its glory. But due to the masses of spray rising from the fallen water the full width of the Falls cannot be seen on foot. The aerial view at this time however is spectacular, with clouds of spray rising high into the sky. As the water reduce the view of the falls gets better and better through the year, but at it's lowest, around November and December the falls become little rivulets running over the edge and in some places along the 1.7 kilometer width little or no water falls at all.

VICTORIA FALLS - LIVINGSTONE

Upon arrival at the Livingstone International Airport by the Victoria Falls, a transfer officer will personally meet all arriving guests. He will be standing in the main arrival section holding a signboard with your name on it. Thereafter, you will be transferred to Royal Livingstone Hotel for two nights. Guests prefer the Royal Livingstone Hotel for the main reason that it is located right next to the Victoria Falls (One of the two accommodations only in Zambia to have this privilege).Royal Livingstone, the pride of Zambian hospitality, lies the on the forested banks of the great Zambezi River, upstream of the mighty cataract where it thunders into the Batoka Gorge. In its cool lounges and shaded verandahs, you will encounter the elegance and luxury of an earlier, more courageous age. The local tribes people call Victoria Falls in Livingstone “Mosi-Oa-Tunya”, Bantu for the “Smoke That Thunders”. The spray from the mighty Victoria Falls may be seen like a cloud across the bushveld throwing rainbows hundreds of feet in the air. At your own leisure time you can visit the falls, relax and enjoy the experience. During the warmer periods of the year, after being in the bush for several days, guests can retreat and relax by the pool, while viewing the spray from the falls in the short distance. Don't be caught surprised by the casual trot of the resident zebra population around the hotel grounds. There are several activities that may appeal to our clients, that include helicopter and microlight flights, all professionally piloted, with the opportunity to view the falls from above as well as other alternative activities to add on.

Activities Included: Guided Tour Of The Victoria Falls

Optional Victoria Falls Activities Available : Zambezi River Boat Cruise, Elephant or Horse Back Safaris, Seasonal Whitewater Rafting, Helicopter or Microlight Flight Over The Victoria Falls, Seasonal Livingstone Island Tour, Chief Mukuni Village Cultural Tour and many more.

Overnight Accommodation: Royal Livingstone Hotel

DEPARTURE & TRIP EXTENSIONS

Day 3: Victoria Falls (Livingstone Town) Departure & Extensions

Breakfast. Transfer to Livingstone International Airport in time for your outbound departure flight or to continue with the below extension to Chobe

RECOMMENDED PRE AND POST SAFARI AND TOUR EXTENSION IN CHOBE

After your Victoria Falls Tour - TIER 1 safari, we recommend a combination off-beat extension to distinct destinations such as the Chobe National Park in Botswana. You can visit it before or after your Victoria Falls safari to harmoniously conclude with a coastal rest and relaxation in Cape Town in South Africa with speckled seaside, cultural, winelands and historic experiences. You may customize to include any other destination of your preference in Eastern and Southern Africa. The options are endless!

3 Nights Chobe Extension - (Botswana)

Transfer to Kasane. On arrival, transfer to Chobe Chilwero for your 3 nights stay. Chobe Chilwero is located on the edge of Chobe National Park, the second largest national park in Botswana where some 80,000 elephants roam. From the lodge’s hilltop position, guests can enjoy far reaching panoramic views over the Chobe River and floodplain below, relax in the split-level swimming pool or unwind with a pampering session in the full service spa complete with a treetop treatment room. Chobe Chilwero’s fifteen guest cottages all command fabulous views and come with every convenience guests could hope for. The en suite bathrooms have both indoor and outdoor showers while the freestanding tubs are large and comfortable. Each cottage also has its own private garden – the perfect spot to sip cocktails after, or why not enjoy your very own private dinner served under the African sky? With Africa’s largest concentration on the lodge’s doorstep, elephants feature largely on any activity at Chobe Chilwero. Game drives bring these grey giants into easy reach as they drink and frolic at the water’s edge in boisterous herds. Hippo, buffalo, antelope, lion and leopard are also frequent sights. The best way to end a day of safari is sipping on a cocktail while watching an African sunset over the waters of the Chobe River.

Activities Included: Land and water based activities - see accommodation for complete details.

Overnight Accommodation: Chobe Chilwero

AFRICANMECCA REVIEWS

What are our Customers saying about our safari holidays?

  • On behalf of myself, my wife and my two adult daughters, I want to sincerely thank you and AfricanMecca Safaris for our fabulous recent safari. Everything you promised exceeded our expectations and was superb, which is saying a lot since this was our second trip, having had a wonderful Botswana Safari 10 years ago. Do not ever hesitate to use me as a reference.

  • Chobe was delightful, less than half full. Sussi and Chuma, very nice, again only 13 people in all. All the game drives and river cruises were excellent. We had great weather. The ability to get really close is in inspiring. EVERYWHERE we went, the people were warm, helpful and charming. Thank you so much. We will be recommending your services to all.
Thomas Kelch - California, United States
  • Raza Visram at AfricanMecca planned the most amazing trip for my friend and I. I wanted to go to 4 countries in 15 days and he made it happen. It was an aggressive itinerary and Raza planned it so well, that the transitions were seamless. The last leg of the trip was Botswana for another Safari and we stayed at the most beautiful lodge. The excitement in seeing the animals so closely is indescribable.
Karin Alsdorf - New Jersey, United States
