Whitewater Rafting On Zambezi River are run in large rubber rafts, launched from just below the Falls. You can experience a half day trip, full day or two day. Considered one of the best stretches of commercially run river in the world, Batoka Gorge provides one of the most intense sensory thrills imaginable. The rapids below the Victoria Falls are among the world's wildest but also the safest due to deep water, steep canyon walls and no mid stream rocks. The top section of the Batoka Gorge, rapids 1 10, includes the highest concentration of grade 4 and 5 rapids anywhere in the world. Its 21 whitewater rapids and striking scenery deep within the sheer black cliffs afford the adrenaline junkie a wild roller coaster ride along a route carved over millenia by the Great Zambezi. The rivers are high from March to June and during this time 11 rapids are navigable. As the water levels reduce, from June to February, all 21 rapids are navigable.
A multi-day trip along the Zambezi can be organized: after a full day of rafting, you will camp in the Batoka Gorge and listen as the wildlife, gaze into the campfire and a down a few cold drinks before you settle in for the night. Rise to a big breakfast, and the adventure starts again. Overnight camps are on sandy beaches on the river's edge deep in the gorge with a non-permanent/mobile camp setup.
