Showcasing Zambia Safari takes a circuit tour of Zambia experiencing the wildlife and nature of Lower Zambezi National Park & South Luangwa National Park, and concluding the program at the Victoria Falls. Showcasing Zambia Safari displays Zambia’s superb landscapes & landmarks, and helps connect the best destinations in the country under one program. Lower Zambezi National Park is beautiful displaying its tall leadwoods, ebonies, acacias and figs stand on carpets of rich grassland. Wildlife congregates near the river which can be viewed on the specialty canoeing safaris. The South Luangwa National Park is one of Africa's biggest parks with territorial species of wildlife located in distinct/resident areas of the park. The visit to the park enables AfricanMecca clients to explore the beauty of the wilderness, wildlife, ecology, its specialty walking safari, unmatched day and night game viewing as well as the wilderness camp experience. South Luangwa wildlife include huge herds of elephant and buffalo. Of particular interest are the two subspecies unique to the Luangwa Valley: the beautiful thornicroft giraffe (with its dark patterned skin) and Cookson's wildebeest. The valley's main predators are lion, leopard and spotted hyena. During the day, lion seldom hide and are often seen, where as leopards hunt by night. Combine this with an experience of viewing the stunning Victoria Falls in Livingstone, one of Africa's (and world) wonders from an eye level or from above - either in a microlight or helicopter - it can't get any better than that!

Upon arrival at the Lusaka International Airport, a guest relations’ transfer officer will personally meet all arriving guests. They will be standing outside the arrival section holding a signboard with your name on it. Check in for your flight. Fly out to Lower Zambezi National Park, arriving at Royal Airstrip. You are met on arrival and transferred to Kasaka River Lodge. The lodge is situated in a natural bush environment with each chalet secluded among the native flora. Kasaka has a 'tame side' with beautiful manicured gardens and colorful indigenous plants and a 'wild side' for the more adventurous, which is connected to the main lodge by overhead walkways to allow for the passage of wildlife within the camp.

Kasaka River Lodge guests have two accommodation options: staying on the 'tame' side with manicured gardens nearest the swimming pool or on the 'wild' side, which is connected by overhead walkways to allow for the passage of wildlife within the camp. Spend your days spotting wildlife from the camp's river bank or when out on your daily activities. After lunch, spend some time relaxing viewing wildlife as they come around to your camp or on the river bank. The shimmering sun reflecting like gemstones off the river creates unique photographic opportunities which clients may want to take advantage of. Do not be surprised by the elephants that walk by your camp to forage off the vegetation. If it gets a little too hot, you can take a plunge in the pool and cool off. At around mid afternoon, you will gather for high tea and proceed for an afternoon canoeing activity on the river culminating into an evening game drive on the return back. The canoeing activity is an incredibly fun yet relaxed and enjoyable experience with the opportunity to view good concentrations of wildlife and birdlife as they congregate by the river bank to drink. You are led by professional guides and their crew who help you navigate the river while spotting the hippos and crocodile cooling off or basking in the sun. The river water level swoosh and swirls vary depending on the time of the year/season while also coinciding with release of water from the Kariba dam, which ends up being an interesting experience on its own. The wildlife species that can be spotted include the various types of antelopes, elephants, hippos, crocodile, lions, buffalo and incredible amount of birds including fish eagles, herons, storks and the list goes on. The night game drives are reserved for the nocturnal creatures also commonly referred to the small five (as compared to the big 5) along with the superb opportunities to view the big cats hunt. For those preferring an alternative experience, the Lower Zambezi is world famous for its tiger fish and record catches have been made on the river. The fishing policy is tag and release, which works best in preserving the endemic population. Apart from the canoeing on the Zambezi, clients can also take an afternoon game drive on a 4x4 and end with a return to camp in the early evening. Spend the evening at the dinner table discussing your day's adventure with other guests and camp host while planning your activities for the following day.

Activities Included: Day game drives; Canoeing; Night game drives; Fishing; Walking safaris; River boating safari.

Overnight Accommodation: Kasaka River Lodge

Check in for your flight. Fly via Lusaka Airport to South Luangwa National Park, arriving at the Mfuwe Airport, the main town at the footsteps of South Luangwa. You are met on arrival and transferred to Kafunta River Lodge for your 3 nights Luangwa safari experience. The lodge is set in the riverside forest on the banks of the Luangwa River overlooking the South Luangwa National Park. From the comfort of the lodge, guests may view some of Africa's majestic wildlife as animals come down to drink. Elephant, hippopotamus, many antelope species and crocodiles are plentiful in this area. Depending on whether it is the emerald or dry season, the Luangwa river's water table level either saturates or seeps into the ground prodding the resident species near the accommodation to either have a 'field day' (no pun intended) with readily available food or work harder (work harder!!), as humorously announced by the calls of the turtle dove bird. Combine this with the startling 3 whistles of the Puku antelope, marking its territory, fending off the males and announcing his availability to interested females. Just then you resign to the calls for an afternoon tea where appetizing snacks, beverages are served before your departure for a mid-afternoon game drive with the opportunity to view superb concentrations of game whether its cats, antelopes, pachyderms. After your mid afternoon-night game drives, meals are served and later comforted by the camp fire. Spend the days and nights experiencing the ecology, wildlife as well as time at the lodge's lagoon & Luangwa River.

Activities Included: Day game drives; Night game drives; Walking safaris

Overnight Accommodation: Kafunta River Lodge

An early breakfast is served. Fly to Livingstone International Airport via Lusaka. Upon arrival at the Livingstone International Airport by the Victoria Falls, a transfer officer will personally meet all arriving guests. He will be standing in the main arrival section holding a signboard with your name on it. Thereafter, you will be transferred to Avani Victoria Falls Resort for two nights. The hotel located at the Victoria Falls Livingstone in Zambia, features adobe-style architecture. Simple finishes highlight bright mosaics and fabrics and the intoxicating environment is characterized by ethnic wall stencils, timber and plaster ceilings, Zambian artworks and accessories. Avani Victoria Falls Resort is constructed in a series of eight buildings, consisting of the guest rooms, a central pavilion of restaurants and a fabulous convention center. The local tribes people call Victoria Falls in Livingstone “Mosi-Oa-Tunya”, Bantu for the “Smoke That Thunders”. The spray from the mighty Victoria Falls may be seen like a cloud across the bushveld throwing rainbows hundreds of feet in the air. At your own leisure time you can visit the falls, relax and enjoy the experience. During the warmer periods of the year, after being in the bush for several days, guests can retreat and relax by the pool, while viewing the spray from the falls in the short distance. Don't be caught surprised by the casual trot of the resident zebra population around the hotel grounds. There are several activities that may appeal to our clients, that include helicopter and microlight flights, all professionally piloted, with the opportunity to view the falls from above as well as other alternative activities to add on.

  • Raza Visram at AfricanMecca planned the most amazing trip for my friend and I. I wanted to go to 4 countries in 15 days and he made it happen. It was an aggressive itinerary and Raza planned it so well, that the transitions were seamless. The last leg of the trip was Botswana for another Safari and we stayed at the most beautiful lodge. The excitement in seeing the animals so closely is indescribable.
